On most Renault vehicles, if the dashboard displays "SERV" or "SERVICE", this is NOT the service indicator light, but the engine management fault light.
To diagnose faults on this light you will need a diagnostic tool, such as the Autel MD704:
The service light on these vehicles is usually a spanner / wrench symbol. To reset that indicator:
 Turn the Ignition ON (position 2) but do not start the engine
(On cars with keycard ignition, insert the card, then press and hold the start button for 5 seconds to turn on the dash cluster)
 Press the button on the end of the wiper stalk repeatedly until the spanner symbol and miles to service appears on the display
(Some models have 2 buttons, which cycle through the options in opposite directions - either button can be used in this case)
 Press and hold the button
 The display will now change to the new service interval and start flashing
 Keep holding the button until the display stops flashing
 Release the button

04 1.9 Setting speedo to km/h in Scenic II - DP
In preparation for a forthcoming trip to the Continent I tried this out last night and it works a treat. Just in case this is of use to anyone (it doesn't appear to be in the handbook), I've posted it here:

To set Renault Scenic II / Grand Scenic digital speedometer and trip computer to metric:
Ignition must be off (so open and close the door in the case of full keyless models)
Press and hold the upper (^) fuel computer button on the end of the wiper stalk
Still holding the ^ button, insert the key card into the slot on the dash.
Make sure you're not touching the clutch or brake pedals.
Still holding the ^ button, press and hold the Engine Start/Stop button. The ignition will come on.
After about 5 seconds, the speedo appears, and begins to flash.
After another 5 seconds, the units switch from mph to km/h but the speedo still flashes.
After another 5 seconds, the whole thing stops flashing.
Voila - you now have km/h speedo, and the computer now reads in metric too.
To switch back to miles and gallons, repeat the same process.

How can I change the digital speedo display from mph to kph in an 04 Renault Scenic?
Well now. . . . .after 45 minutes and the intervention of a very nice lady (Nikky of Lookers Chelmsford) and her pet mechanic on the end of the phone, we finally managed to change mph to kph (I feel like an alchemist.)
Alors, pour une Grande Scenic with hands free card you must:
- ensure the ignition is off, so open and close the door if you're already comfortably seated
- Don't be tempted to touch the brake or clutch
- have the hands-free card in your left hand
- press and hold the top computer-control button on the right-hand stalk
- immediately insert the card into the slot
- then (still with the cc button pressed) press and hold the Start button.
- after about 3-5 second the dash will light up with the speedo flashing - but bide your time and keep pressing them buttons.
- after another 3-5 seconds the mph will change to kph but it will still flash so keep your digits stiff and disregard the pain
- after another 3-5 second the flashing will stop, the speedo will be in kph :rofl: and you can stop holding your breathe (Nikky me and the dealer found we were doing this )
- despite what the manual said, and it's no surprise it's wrong in this respect as well, it doesn't revert to mph when you switch off, so you have to go through this again when you return to blighty. But this is a good thing.
It's important that you keep the buttons pressed when the speedo is flashing or it will just abort, even when it shows kph.

I imagine that this will be the same with the éspace as well, but obviously I can't vouch for that and clearly it will be slightly different for non-hands-free systems, but ya-boo mine works

If you still have trouble then I suggest you give Nikky a call. In fact having spent so much time in close proximity to her I'd suggest that anyway (said in the full knowledge that my wife will not be on this forum.)

Changing a renault grand scenic from mph to kmh and visa versa is very easy. Details are on page 1.56 of the grand scenic user manual 'trip computer and warning systems - instrument panel in miles'.
All you have to do is put your card in the slot (don't press any pedals!), Hold button 3 or 4 (up or down arrow buttons on the end of the window wiper controls) and press and hold the start button. After a few seconds the car will start to make an odd sound!! Keep both buttons held in until the display changes and stops flashing. Then start your car as normal.

Just change from miles to kph on my Scenic II as follows:
1. Unlock the vehicle , do not start the engine
2. insert card
3. Press and hold either of the trip computer buttons and the start button together
4. Keep pressed until speedo appears
5. Release start button and hold the trip computer button until speedo changes from miles to kilometers or vice versa. KEEP button pressed until speedo stops flashing.
6. Press start button twice to switch off ignition.

I tried the above in my scenic 3, and it didn't work. Went to local Renault agent, where tech finally succeeded, as follows:
1. Leave key outside the car (say 2 metres away!)
2. Try to start car, ie press clutch or brake and press Start button. Screen says "Insert card"
3. Bring card into car. Not necessary to insert it.
4. Press and hold one of the computer control buttons and the start button.
5. Keep holding both buttons as display flashes miles, then flashes km, and finally stops flashing, showing km steady. ONLY NOW release buttons. Should be done, and it should stay in km till you go through the procedure again to reverse it. Good luck.

This works on my 06 Scenic II, have done it every year so far.. you must follow it to the letter
